Cambodia and Philippine ‘Friends’ Reunite in CTU, Philippines (Khmer at Pilipino’ng ‘Friends’ Nagsama Muli Sa CTU)

English Version:

Cambodia’s Dewey International University (DIU) Co-founder and President, Dr. Raymond Zepp met with the Philippines’ Cebu Technological University (CTU) FRIENDS (Furthering International Relations Capacities and Intercultural Engagement to Nurture Campus Diversity and to Support Internationalisation at Home) colleagues.

This meeting at CTU occurred on January 28, 2020 at the Conference Room of the President’s Office.

Mr. Zepp was there during the three Erasmus+ FRIENDS partner meetings last year in  Malaysia, in Turkey, and in Cambodia. In these meetings, he was able to meet Engr. Edgar Tibay (CTU Vice-President for Production, Extension and Business Affairs), 2018-2019 CTU OIC Director for Internationalization and ASEAN Integration, Engr. Ronald Galindo, Director for Internationalization and ASEAN Integration, Dr. Doris Gascon, and OIC Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Irvin Narsico.

Erasmus+ FRIENDS is a project sponsored by the European Union to promote internationalization at Home. The project includes 16 universities, spearheaded by European universities of Poland, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Further, Asia-Pacific universities from Bhutan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines are the counterpart for the ERASMUS+FRIENDS.

CTU is among the three universities in the Philippines (the other two are University of Cebu (UC) and Saint Louis University (SLU)) for this project.

According to the President of DIU, the government of Cambodia pushes for the improvement of the universities’ tourism and hospitality programs due to increase in tourism (especially in Angkor Wat). Angkor Wat is a 3-hour drive to DIU.

Thus, as DIU has new tourism and hospitality programs, Mr. Zepp proposes a partnership with CTU’s Tourism and Hospitality Management programs.

Aside from the CTU faculty mentioned above, also in this meeting are:

  • CTU President, Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr.;
  • Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Edwin Pilapil;
  • CTU Main Campus Director, Dr. Joseph Pepito;
  • College of Management and Entrepreneurship (CME) Associate Dean, Dr. Hubert Quinones, and
  • CME Chairperson for Internationalization and ASEAN Integration, Dr. Nereogilbert Dela Cruz.

A dual program for DIU students and practice teaching in Cambodia for CTU students are areas considered for collaboration.

Samakatwid, ang DIU ay mayroon’g bagong tourism at hospitality na mga programa, kaya naman, iminungkahi ni Ginoong Zep ang pakipag ugnayan sa  Tourism at Hospitality Management na programa ng CTU.
